About Us
Our Story
Africa Habesha Restaurant is located in the heart of Heerlen and offers an authentic East African dining experience. We specialise in the traditional cuisine of Ethiopia and Eritrea, known as Habesha culture.
The name 'Habesha' refers to the people and culture of Ethiopia and Eritrea — a civilisation with a rich history spanning over 3,000 years. Our cuisine reflects these deep-rooted traditions through the use of authentic spices and preparation methods.
Our restaurant is more than just food — it is a cultural experience. From the traditional Jebena coffee ceremony to our colourful injera platters, we take you on a flavourful journey to the Horn of Africa.

Our Traditions
Injera
Our dishes are served on injera — traditional sourdough bread made from teff. This bread serves as both base and utensil.
East African Spices
We use authentic spices such as berbere, mitmita and niter kibbeh for unforgettable flavours.
Jebena Coffee Ceremony
The Habesha coffee ceremony is an ancient ritual and a symbol of hospitality and community.
